FileFlow Inc. announced that it has exceeded its goal of 1,000 FastSend users by the end of the first quarter. FastSend is an Internet-enabled service that allows users to quickly transfer large, complex files even over low-bandwidth lines. This announcement comes shortly after Vio Worldwide announced it would discontinue its private network file transfer services by June 30.

“One of the major differences between FastSend and some of the other options on the market, is that we do not rely on proprietary networks or special hardware in order to gain our speed advantage,” said Ken Freedman, FileFlow’s executive vice president.

Freedman said that special hardware used by some other services may increase transfer speed but it can also increase overhead and reduce profits. He added, “FastSend relies only on the technology built into a simple browser plug-in.”

Group Logic will also offer some relief to Vio customers with a transition plan to migrate them to Group Logic’s MassTransit Enterprise.
