DTI, Edipresse join Newsplex
Digital Technology Inter-national of Springville,
Utah, a U.S.-based publishing systems company, and Edipresse Group, a
Swiss-based multinational publishing group, have taken the first seats on the
Newsplex Directorate by contributing to development and construction of the
prototype Newsplex micro-newsroom.
DTI and Edipresse inaugurate a prestigious
industry-academic consortium that is underwriting the facility for training,
demonstration and research in next-generation, cross-media newshandling methods
and technologies. As contributors to the $1.5 million center, they will have a
seat on the facility’s advisory board, take a prominent spokesman role on the
future of the industry, and receive preferential access to services and
programs.
The Newsplex is being developed by the Ifra
Centre for Advanced News Operations in cooperation with the University of South
Carolina’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications. It will be used to
educate the next generation of journalists and to evaluate emerging
technological advancements that may affect how news is gathered and disseminated
in the convergent marketplace of print, radio, television and online media. The
facility will be located at the University of South Carolina College of
Journalism and Mass Communications in Columbia, S.C.
DTI has installed publishing systems for media
companies all over the world. Its mission is to unify all publishable
information into a database-centered foundation and provide integrated solutions
implementing the latest technology.
Edipresse Group, with headquarters in Lausanne,
is an international, multilingual and multicultural communication group
publishing 80 daily and weekly newspapers and magazines worldwide.
