Jiji Press America, a Japanese news service that provides Japanese executives in the United States with world news via daily dissemination of HyperText Markup Language-based news files, has selected e-Parcel Inc. as its Internet data delivery provider.

Jiji Press will use e-Parcel’s Dynamic Digital Rights Management technology to ensure that only paying subscribers access news content.

The company selected e-Parcel because its Dynamic DRM technology enables users to securely send, receive, track and control digital content over the Internet. Designed to prevent unauthorized forwarding, copying and duplication of materials, e-Parcel ensures that only Jiji Press subscribers receive the digital materials. e-Parcel also features an auto-shred function to prevent unauthorized sharing of news content.

Because of e-Parcel’s unique compression capabilities, there is no file size limit. Both audio and video can be delivered seamlessly. Jiji Press will be able to complement its current service to include multimedia news featuring sound and visual enhancements. Additionally, e-Parcel deliveries are interruptible, so that if an Internet connection is lost, re-establishing the connection will automatically resume delivery from the point of interruption.

“We expect that by coupling e-Parcel’s unique technology with Jiji’s news service, Jiji will create a product that can double their number of subscribers by the second quarter of 2001,” said Jeff Wyne, vice president of marketing for e-Parcel. “The combination of these two technologies is not simply an electronic newspaper delivered to a desktop, but rather the capability of delivering a multimedia news program to Jiji Press’ subscribers.

e-Parcel, a global Internet communications infrastructure provider, develops scalable virtual communications networks that can securely and reliably handle all of a company’s digital communication and e-supply chain management needs. Unlike e-mail, FTP, fax or traditional couriers, e-Parcel allows data transmission over the Internet with automatic authentication, optimized compression, encryption and dynamic digital rights.
