GretagMacbeth introduced at drupa ProfileMaker Professional 3.1, the latest version of it color management solution, which now for the first time includes technology for accurately profiling flat panel displays, a new module for creating digital camera profiles, and enhancements to the ProfileEditor module.

ProfileMaker comprises a suite of five modules that correspond to different tasks in the color management process. ProfileMaker is the main application module, which compares reference data to the measurement data to calculate International Color Consortium profiles for input and output devices, including flat panel displays and digital cameras. ProfileMaker accounts for the lighting when creating profiles for digital cameras.

ProfileEditor provides control over lightness, contrast and saturation, as well as any point on the gradation curve. The new 3.1 version includes selective color correction to enable fine-tuning of specific colors within the profile, and white point correction for even more accurate proofing.

MeasureTool works with popular color measurement devices, such as Spectrolino and SpectroScan, to handle all of the data collection, analysis and calculation required for accurate profile computation.

ColorPicker applies ICC profiles to provide the best possible match for Pantone and other special colors for the chosen output device. By supporting a large set of standard measurement devices, ColorPicker permits users to define their own color palettes, which can be used in applications such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, PageMaker, and Photoshop, and Macromedia Freehand.

Rounding out the ProfileMaker suite is BatchMatcher, which enables ICC profiles to be automatically applied to files prior to output. Files and images can be maintained in their original color space and prepared for a variety of output, while also providing the flexibility to color manage and archive files using the industry-standard, device-independent, D50 LAB color space.

Each application integrates seamlessly with desktop design applications through the use of drag-and-drop functionality to provide color management from concept to final press output.
