Your e market.com Inc., a regional player in the community publishing market, offers a suite of applications to businesses in the Pacific Northwest through distribution agreements with local newspapers and broadcast companies.

The company, which recently merged with MyTownNetwork Inc., focuses on developing applications that have to do with activities people accomplish within 15 miles of their home, as research shows that’s where people spend 80 percent of their time and money, said YEM.

The company’s applications cover a wide range of services, from scheduling appointments, to signing the kids up for soccer, to buying or selling a lawn mower.

For newspaper distribution partners, YEM aims to help expand product portfolios by providing new product and service offerings that give additional value to three types of local customers — local citizens, local merchants and advertisers, and local government, public services and non-profit organizations.

YEM’s business model, based on revenue sharing, is designed to generate significant incremental revenue, minimize financial exposure, and leverage a newspaper’s existing business structures and ways of conducting business, the company said. The newspaper and YEM both get a commission on monetary transactions, subscriptions and advertising.

Products and Services

YourETown is a news and information portal for local communities. The portal comes in two varieties. The first has print conversion and Web publishing capabilities that enable newspapers to publish a subset of its primary print media on a Web site, or to function as a sampler to draw a user to your core product. The second can function as a transparent portal on an existing Web site to implement selected YEM applications, or it can be used to enhance an existing site, or function as a new site.

Four traffic-building products are included in the YourETown portal product — Event Calendar, Forum, Site Builder and Kid Zone.

Event Calendar functions as a community calendar where the user can search for and view the local planned events and activities in one place. Calendar events can be input and updated by sponsoring organization representatives.

Forum is an interactive issues and question-and-answer forum where users can view or participate in community dialogue regarding issues or topics of interest to the local community.

Site Builder is a free tool that enables non-profit organizations to create and publish a single-page Web site on the YourETown portal.

Kid Zone is a complete, filtered, kid-oriented interactive learning and entertainment module targeted at the youngest members of the local community.

YourEMall is a local business directory template that offers local merchants the opportunity to market their products and services on the portal. It provides search and contact tools so the shopper can easily find what they are looking for in the local community, local merchant exposure, and sorting of products and services along with detailed tracking information.

YourEQuote is an application that lets potential customers request quotes from local product or service providers that can operate from a quote process. A buyer can make one quote request, and have their request responded to by all the participating providers in the community. One request can reach dozens of businesses, benefiting the buyer and providing sales leads to merchants.

YourEBargain is a “name-your-price” auction application that allows a user to place a secret bid by naming the price that they are willing to pay for a service or product. Through a proprietary algorithm, the system immediately accepts or denies the bid on behalf of the merchant, thereby eliminating the wait for a merchant to respond. Merchants are able to localize their offers by selecting where the offers will be placed, such as by ZIP code. YourEAuction is an application enabling local consumers to set up and manage their own personal auctions. Anyone can enter an auction item and set the auction parameters.

YourEScheduler is an online appointment scheduler. It benefits both businesses operating from appointment books and their clients. Clients are able to place themselves in available timeslots, while the business maintains its productivity. This real-time scheduling service is fast and easy, and is available around-the-clock.

YourEGrocer gives the grocery shopper a way to do their grocery shopping without ever leaving home. The shopper can create a shopping list, order the items, and have them delivered or pick them up at their convenience.

YourEKids is a youth sports and activity clubs registration application. The club is provided with a simple site for communication and registration purposes. Parents can use the site to fill out the appropriate forms and make payments.s
