Prepress Technology March 2000 InstallationsThe North Carolina News and Record purchased Monotype Systems' PrintExpress 2000. It is configured with PS/PDF input, PS/PDF spooler, three PrintExpress 2000 RIP modules, bitmap spooler, four high-resolution ROPs, Eshare license and two Sun e450s. Dow Jones & Co. purchased nine Sun Rip Expresses and nine ProofExpresses II from Monotype. Danville Commercial News and Detroit Free Press bought a ProofExpress 1000, while the Palestine (Texas) Herald Press and Multi-Tech Corp. purchased a Panther Plus/46 HS Imagestter from Monotype.
SeeColor Corp. announced the installation of three SeeColor Computer To Proof systems at the Los Angeles Times. SeeColor's software creates proofs from post-RIPped files and reproduces the underlying halftone screens generated by an imagesetter or platesetter.
The San Jose (Calif.) Mercury News purchased R-Logic, a circulation retention tool developed by ASTech. R-Logic measures retention by transforming circulation transactions into marketing subscriptions. The San Francisco Newspaper Agency signed a multi-year agreement with ASTech to facilitate its circulation marketing initiative. The agreement includes the purchase of AnalytiX for Newspapers and Telemarketing Workstation.
Advanced Technical Solutions Inc. announced 19 new installations and four upgrades. The Knoxville (Tenn.) News-Sentinel, the New York Daily News, The Commercial Appeal (Memphis, Tenn.), El Nuevo Dia (San Juan, Puerto Rico), The Blade (Toledo, Ohio), Detroit Free Press, and Surburban Newspapers of Greater St. Louis are just a few.
The Toronto Star has entered into a new agreement with CCI Europe to install their new AdDesk System. The system consists of CCI AdDesk Production, AdDesk Sales, and NWI Accounts Receivable System.
M. Dumont Schauberg, the first customer to purchase an APS 3850 CTP platesetter from Autologic Information International, bought their fourth platesetter. Aii also installed two APS 3850 CTP Imagers at the newspaper Zero Hora in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Managing Editor Inc. announced recent sales and installations of its Page Director Ad Layout System, Classified Layout System and ClassForce solutions. Sales for the Ad Layout System include The Modesto (Calif.) Bee and The Rapid City (S.D.) Journal.
Publishing Business Systems announced that Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. licensed its MediaPlus Circulation and MediaPlus Advertising business systems for use in 58 of its newspaper holdings.
Western Lithotech announced that the Boston Globe purchased four DiamondSetter 347 CTP laser platesetters, which produce 226 single-page plates per hour. In addition to the 347 CTP, the newspaper also purchased two DiamondSetter 610SP platesetters, which produce 90 panorama or 140 single-page plates per hour. Five DiamondVision optical punch benders, six DiamondPlate 92 processors and two DiamondSetter Assistant plate management software systems were also purchased. |
