Gannett Central Wisconsin Group said it will close the production plant operated by the Stevens Point Journal and transfer printing, inserting and labeling work to the Wausau Daily Herald.

The closure is effective Sept. 19 and will eliminate 11 full-time positions.

In addition to the Journal and Daily Herald, Gannett Central Wisconsin publishes the Marshfield News-Herald and the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune.

The Journal said surplus equipment not required in Wausau will be sold.
