SNAP cuts NAA ties; reaffirms commitment

The Specifications for Newsprint Advertising Production Committee said it will no longer use the Newspaper Association of America to support its Web operations, document distribution or SNAP Certificate efforts.

“We owe thanks to NAA and staff members Tom Croteau and Mike Brady for their support of our efforts over the past years,” stated SNAP Chair Peter Brehm of Vertis Communications. “We look forward to operating in coordination with, though independently of, NAA as we pursue efforts to create, distribute, and help the industry apply SNAP coldset specifications.”

Brehm said SNAP’s new mailing address is SNAP/Media Technology Partners, 44050 Ashburn Plaza/Suite 195-664, Ashburn , VA 20147 . The group’s Web site, www.snapquality.com, is now in operation.

“It is important to understand that SNAP will continue its efforts,” said Vice Chairman Dennis Cheeseman of US Ink/Sun Chemical. He said all members of the coldset community, including newspapers and coldset commercial printers, are invited to attend the next SNAP meeting planned for September just prior to the International Newspaper Group (ING) conference in Tampa , Fla.
